  • Coombs

    A small colony established in 1910 through the Salvation Army Movement and named for Thomas Bales Coombs, a retiring head of the Salvation Army.

    Renowned for its Old Country Market featuring a family of goats living on the roof, delectable eateries, a fresh food market & garden goods plus the charming Grace United Church makes Coombs unique. Coombs Fall Fair and the Coombs Bluegrass Festival is held on the B.C. Day weekend & The Fair Grounds is an active place with the Rodeo Grounds up the highway hosting old western activities, craft fairs, and many other community events.

    Located just south of Coombs the rural community of Errington is thought to be named after a small village in England’s Northumberland county, Errington!

    Established in 1922, the Errington War Memorial Hall and adjacent park host numerous events; the seasonal Errington Farmers Market, Hi Neighbour Day, Pumpkin Trail, The Vaudeville Show and many arts & craft fairs. In addition, there are regular community coffee houses and music concerts for all styles & tastes.

  • Hilliers / Whiskey Creek

    Originally named Hilliers Crossing and adjacent to Whiskey Creek is this independent community of acreages and single family homes.

    With super access to the Alberni Highway corridor this area is near Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park, Cameron Lake and Cathedral Grove is just a short drive away.

    Nearby Mount Arrowsmith Massif Regional Park is a mecca for mountain bikers & hikers in the summer & a popular skiing destination in the winter.

    RDN District Area ‘F’, comprising Coombs, Errington & Hilliers/Whiskey Creek is close to Qualicum Beach yet a gateway to much more. A most interesting Doukhobor history exists here as well!
